Bergquam Exclusive: Cook Co. Sanctuary City Policies Under Fire Amid Bomb Threat and ICE Standoff

Ben Bergquam, a correspondent for Real America’s Voice, dropped a bombshell on Cook County, Illinois, exposing startling revelations about its policies on illegal immigration. His video commentary, shared Thursday, painted a picture of a system prioritizing sanctuary policies over public safety.

Speaking from outside the Cook County Courthouse and jail in Chicago, Bergquam revealed the building had been shut down due to a bomb threat. “The courthouse is closed,” he said, “but what I found out is even more shocking.”

Bergquam reported that Cook County has refused to work with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) for over five years. “The jail won’t even let ICE into the building to pick up illegals with ICE detainers,” he said. “They have to wait until they’re released, then go into neighborhoods to track them down. It’s insane.”

Sanctuary Over Safety?

Cook County’s sanctuary policies mean ICE agents are barred from accessing the jail, even when detainees have been flagged as illegal immigrants. Bergquam explained the dangers: “These aren’t just undocumented immigrants—they’re criminals. Rapists, murderers, you name it. And Cook County lets them go.”

He added, “This is what Tom Homan has been warning about. Cities like Chicago are making neighborhoods less safe by protecting illegals. Instead of allowing ICE to do its job, they force agents to hunt them down in our communities.”

Bergquam posted video footage of a bombastic news conference in Chicago on Thursday. Governor Pritzer and Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson, where Johnson stomped off:

“Deport Them All”

Bergquam didn’t hold back his criticism. “If you’re illegal, you shouldn’t be in American schools. You shouldn’t be in shelters. You shouldn’t be victimizing American citizens,” he said. “Pick them all up. Deport them all. Put American citizens first again.”

He called for accountability at the highest levels, naming Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker and Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson. “Shame on Cook County. Shame on Governor Pritzker and Mayor Johnson. Anyone giving aid and comfort to illegal aliens and the cartels should be arrested and prosecuted,” he declared.

A History of Conflict

This isn’t the first time Cook County’s policies have come under fire. Sanctuary city policies have long been a point of contention, with critics arguing they put American citizens at risk by shielding undocumented immigrants, including those with criminal records.

Bergquam’s report highlighted the growing frustration among conservatives who view these policies as a threat to public safety. “This is about protecting Americans. It’s about keeping our communities safe,” he said.

The Bigger Picture

The bomb threat at the courthouse underscores the tension surrounding immigration enforcement in sanctuary cities. While the cause of the threat remains unclear, Bergquam’s revelations have reignited the debate over sanctuary policies and their impact on law enforcement and public safety.

As Bergquam concluded, “It’s time to clean house. America first. No more excuses.”
