In Houston this week, a tense standoff erupted between Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents and local protesters, an encounter caught on video by Ben Bergquam, correspondent for Real America’s Voice and host of Law & Border.
Bergquam, known for his on-the-ground coverage of ICE immigration enforcement, posted footage of the confrontation along with a blunt caption:
“Language warning! More of the activist left attacking #ICE for removing criminals from their neighborhood⚠️
Crazy! Female holding baby as she attacks #ICE in Houston while ICE attempts to get multiple deportee illegals who fled from law enforcement and barricaded themselves in a house out!
Democrats knew exactly what they were doing when they allowed millions of illegals to flood into our country. This was the plan from the beginning… We aren’t only battling to get illegals out, we’re battling the enemies within that are protecting them!”
The video documents a chaotic scene. ICE agents had reportedly been tracking several undocumented migrants who fled from law enforcement and barricaded themselves inside a residence. As agents prepared to enter, a growing crowd of residents began shouting, recording on their phones, and confronting the officers.
One woman cradling a baby stood in the street screaming at ICE and local police. “You’re endangering your baby!” one officer shouted back, as law enforcement tried to keep the scene under control and clear the road for emergency vehicles.
Bergquam can be heard narrating as ICE officers coordinate with local police:
“We need to make sure we can secure the scene… a lot of folks here are upset, and we want to make sure everybody’s safe—the public, the officers, and the individual himself.”
As the standoff intensified, police moved the woman and others back from the roadway. A crowd of roughly 60 people surrounded the area, many shouting profanities and flipping off officers. Bergquam’s commentary underscores the tension:
“That’s what we’re up against, America. It’s not just the illegals that were let in—it’s the communities that are aiding and abetting, protecting them. Like this right here—walking out in traffic with her baby. Just pathetic.”
The footage encapsulates what Bergquam and other border-security advocates have described as a growing clash between federal enforcement and activist groups that resist deportations. To them, these confrontations aren’t spontaneous—they’re the result of years of political messaging that frames immigration enforcement as unjust, even when dealing with fugitives.
For Bergquam, the Houston incident represents more than a viral moment; it’s a snapshot of a country divided over the rule of law. “We aren’t only battling to get illegals out,” he said. “We’re battling the enemies within that are protecting them.”
The Department of Homeland Security has not yet released an official statement about the incident, but the footage has already drawn sharp reactions online. Supporters of ICE say it proves how politicized enforcement has become, while critics argue it shows a community standing up for its neighbors.
Either way, the scene in Houston was unmistakable: law enforcement surrounded, tempers flaring, and a baby caught in the middle of America’s fiercest border debate.
