Videos featuring Ben Bergquam, a reporter for Real America’s Voice, has captured widespread attention and sparked controversy after he was aggressively pushed by a protestor during a demonstration in Chicago. Bergquam was covering the Democratic National Convention (DNC) when he encountered a group of protestors who were burning both an American flag and a flag of Israel.
In the video, which quickly went viral, Bergquam can be seen attempting to rescue the American flag from the flames. His intervention was met with hostility as he was forcefully pushed back and verbally assaulted by one of the protestors. The dramatic footage was initially shared by social media influencer Colin Rugg, who posted it with a caption that highlighted the aggressive nature of the encounter: “BREAKING: Reporter Ben Bergquam gets assaulted by far-left extremist outside of the DNC after he tried stopping them from burning an American flag.”
The video caught the attention of various public figures, including U.S. Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene, who reposted the clip and added her commentary. Greene, a prominent supporter of Bergquam, criticized the protestors and expressed concern for his safety. Her post read: “If they don’t respect our flag, our laws, our constitution, our law enforcement, then they also don’t respect our lives. @BenBergquam has been my friend a long time. He’s right and he’s courageous, but some of these people would kill him if they could. Be careful Ben.”
Adding to the video’s virality, Andy Ngo, another well-known commentator, shared the clip, which garnered over 1 million views. His post amplified the controversy by emphasizing the violent rhetoric of the protestors: “Chicago — ‘F—k this country! Burn it down!’ Masked far-left DNC protesters outside the Israeli consulate burn an American flag and call for the violent destruction of the United States.”
In response to the social media uproar, Bergquam expressed his frustration and disappointment. He wrote: “Thank you brother! Just wish I would’ve held on to it before they burned it. It makes me sick to think how these spoiled children spit on the graves of those who bled for that flag! We better wake up America. We’re already in a Civil War and this is the enemy. It also happens to be the base of the Democrat Party.”
