TEXAS ELECTIONS “Don’t Sharia My Texas”: Sharia Ballot Vote Spotlighted on Steve Bannon’s WarRoom

FOCUS: Texas has passed new laws aimed at stopping any communities from being governed by Sharia law. The action followed controversy over a proposed development connected to the East Plano Islamic Center that planned to build a large neighborhood around a mosque and Islamic school. Critics said the project could become an isolated community and possibly try to operate under Islamic law instead of Texas law.

“Our Governor And Other Elected Officials Claim We Have Banned Sharia Law But We Simply Have Not! Republicans in Texas Need To Stand Up And Speak The Truth. WE NEED ACTION!” TX Rep. Brian Harrison told Steve Bannon on Wednesday.

In 2025, Governor Greg Abbott signed House Bill 4211, which blocks residential developments from enforcing religious or foreign legal systems. Abbott said Texas protects religious freedom, but only U.S. and Texas law can govern communities and courts.

The issue has caused a strong debate. Some commentators claim that informal Sharia courts exist and could harm women’s rights. Others, including Muslim advocacy groups, say those claims are false and unfair, and warn the focus on Sharia law increases anti-Muslim fear.

Republicans want it clear that there will be no Sharia Law in Texas.

On Wednesday’s WarRoom, Steve Bannon interviewed Texas State Representative Brian Harrison about upcoming Republican primary ballot language related to Sharia law and Harrison’s call for immediate legislative action in Texas. Harrison said voter concern is rising, pointed to what he described as lessons from Europe tied to mass migration, and urged Texans to vote in the March 3 Republican primary and contact the Speaker of the Texas House to request interim hearings and a special session in 2026.

On the show, Harrison described growing voter attention to cultural and legal questions related to mass migration and the presence of Sharia-related ballot language in the upcoming Republican primary.

Bannon opened the exchange by asking Harrison for a call to action. Harrison responded by pointing to what he said Texans are observing overseas.

“People are seeing the videos and the photos coming out of Europe and the results of unchecked mass migration,” Harrison said. “The eyes of Texans are opening like I’ve never before seen it.”

Harrison said the rhetoric he hears from voters has changed in recent years.

“We used to talk, you know, don’t California my Texas. But people are actually shifting, seeing what’s going on here,” he said. “And in this new, I’m hearing more people say, don’t Sharia my Texas. And I fully support that.”

The discussion centered on an upcoming Republican primary ballot initiative that Harrison said will include language addressing Sharia law. According to Harrison, the ballot language is intended to signal voter opposition to Sharia law within Texas and to pressure state leadership to pursue further legislative action.

“The Texas government’s got to act,” Harrison said. “So if you’re a patriot right now, anywhere in the country, what happens in Texas, I promise you, it affects you no matter what state you live in.”

Harrison laid out two specific actions he said supporters should take in the coming weeks.

“Number one, if you’re in Texas, you show up and you vote in the March 3 Republican primary,” Harrison said. “We are going to have Sharia law language on the ballot. Make sure you show up and vote to tell the elected officials in Texas that you oppose Sharia law within our borders, and the Texas government’s got to do more to do that.”

He then addressed what he wants Texas leadership to do before the next regular legislative session.

“Number two, call the number that I think you guys are going to put on the screen. Call the Speaker of the Texas House,” Harrison said. “Let the elected officials in Texas know that they have it within their power right now to expose this threat, to craft solutions, and to pass laws by holding interim hearings, and that the governor can and should call us back this year, 2026.”

Harrison said he is calling for interim hearings and a special legislative session to examine the issue and draft legislation.

“Let’s pass these bold laws,” he said.

He provided the phone number for the Speaker of the Texas House as 512 463 1000 and urged viewers to request hearings “as soon as possible.”

Harrison also discussed the Republican primary more broadly, linking the ballot initiative to intra party contests in Texas.

“And then back full circle, make sure you show up and vote starting February 17,” Harrison said. “Not just for the Sharia proposition, but the Austin Uniparty Swamp is doing everything they can to silence the bold voices for liberty like myself.”

He said he is facing Republican challengers he characterized as opposed to President Trump and his border policies.

“They’ve got two RINOs who hate President Trump, who want to tear down the border wall and do all the things that the radical leftists want to do,” Harrison said.

The interview remained focused on voter participation, legislative procedure, and the upcoming primary calendar. Bannon did not dispute Harrison’s claims but framed the issue as part of a broader national debate over immigration, sovereignty, and cultural influence, reiterating that Texas politics often have national implications.

Harrison concluded by repeating his request that Texans and supporters nationwide contact the Speaker of the Texas House and push for formal hearings this year.

“Make sure you call today and say you want the hearings ASAP,” he said.

The Republican primary election in Texas is scheduled for March 3, 2026, with early voting set to begin February 17. Harrison said the ballot will include language related to Sharia law and that he intends to use the results to pressure state leadership to take up the issue during 2026.
