Prisoners are being released following President Donald Trump’s decision on Monday to pardon or commute the sentences of individuals convicted in connection with the January 6, 2021, U.S. Capitol riot.
However, reports suggest that not all facilities are complying promptly. Activist Suzzanne Monk, who was the first to initiate oversight of this matter, claims that the Washington, D.C., jail, overseen by Democratic Mayor Muriel Bowser, is delaying the release of some individuals.
