Some people reading the breaking news tonight are not all that impressed with Hunter Biden being indicted on 9 counts of tax issues. However, the Republican-led Oversight Committee is making it sound like a feather in their cap. The news broke late on Thursday, and pundits weighed in with scoffing, mostly because it immediately appeared to be a slap on the wrist.
“Hunter Biden has been INDICTED in California. This would not have been possible without the two brave IRS whistleblowers, Gary Shapley and Joseph Ziegler, blowing the whistle. Americans should applaud these men for their courage to expose the truth,” The House Oversight Committee reported Thursday night.

“Two brave IRS whistleblowers, Gary Shapley and Joseph Ziegler, placed their careers on the line to blow the whistle on misconduct and politicization in the Hunter Biden criminal investigation. The Department of Justice got caught in its attempt to give Hunter Biden an unprecedented sweetheart plea deal and today’s charges filed against Hunter Biden are the result of Mr. Shapley and Mr. Ziegler’s efforts to ensure all Americans are treated equally under the law. Every American should applaud these men for their courage to expose the truth.
“IRS whistleblowers also revealed investigators were prevented from following evidence that could have led to Joe Biden. The House Oversight Committee’s investigation of the Bidens’ influence peddling schemes reveals how Joe Biden knew about, participated in, and benefitted from his family cashing in on the Biden name. In fact, Hunter Biden’s corporate entities implicated by today’s indictments funneled foreign cash that landed in Joe Biden’s bank account. Unless U.S. Attorney Weiss investigates everyone involved in the Bidens’ fraud schemes and influence peddling, it will be clear President Biden’s DOJ is protecting Hunter Biden and the big guy.”

Undoubtedly due to the pressure from Congressional Republicans and the whistleblowers who have spoken out against DOJ abuses and protection of President Biden’s son, Special Counsel David Weiss has just filed a 9-count indictment against Hunter Biden alleging evasion of tax assessment, failure to file and pay taxes; and for filing false or fraudulent tax returns.
David Charles Weiss (born 1956) is an American attorney. He was nominated by President Donald Trump to be United States Attorney for the United States District Court for the District of Delaware, and was retained by President Joe Biden. He was appointed Special Counsel by Merrick Garland, according to this filing.

Weiss found Hunter Biden:
“engaged in a four-year scheme to not pay at least $1.4 million in self-assessed federal taxes he owed for tax years 2016 through 2019, from in or about January 2017 through in or about October 15, 2020, and to evade the assessment of taxes for tax year 2018 when he filed false returns in or about February 2020.”
Hunter Biden executed this scheme by a number of means, including:
- subverting the payroll and tax withholding process of his own company, Owasco, PC by withdrawing millions outside of the payroll and tax withholding process;
- spending millions on an extravagant lifestyle;
- in 2018, failing to pay his outstanding and overdue taxes for the tax year 2015;
- willfully failing to pay his 2016-2019 taxes on time, despite having millions in funds;
- willfully failing to file his 2017-2018 tax returns; and
- using false business deductions in order to evade assessment of taxes and substantially reduce his tax liabilities.
The indictment is exacting and detailed, discussing Hunter’s various business entities, the millions he received from foreign nationals and/or foreign business entities (such as those in China, Romania, and Ukraine), as well as the income and support Hunter has received from his entertainment lawyer, who happens to have paid “over $1.2 million to third parties for [Hunter’s] benefit” in 2020.

They latched on to me and didn’t let go, all with my approval. I never slept. There was no clock. Day bled into night and night into day.”
“And the Defendant specifically described his stays in various luxury hotels in California and private rentals, and expenses related to them, in this way: I stayed in one place until I tired of it, or until it tired of me, and then moved on, merry band of crooks, creeps, and outcasts soon to follow.
Availability drove some of the moves; impulsiveness drove others. A sample itinerary: I left the Chateau [Marmont] the first time for an Airbnb in Malibu.
When I couldn’t reserve it for longer than a week, I returned to West Hollywood and the Jeremy hotel. There were then stays at the Sunset Tower, Sixty Beverly Hills and the Hollywood Roosevelt.
Then another Airbnb in Malibu and an Airbnb in the Hollywood Hills. Then back to the Chateau. Then the NoMad downtown, Standard on Sunset.
A return to the Sixty, a return to Malibu. An ant trail of dealers and their sidekicks rolled in and out, day and night.
They pulled up in late-series Mercedes-Benzes, decked out in oversized Raiders or Lakers jerseys and flashing fake Rolexes. Their stripper girlfriends invited their girlfriends, who invited their boyfriends.
They’d drink up the entire minibar call room service for filet mignon and a bottle of Dom PĂ©rignon. One of the women even ordered an additional filet for her purse-sized dog.
Notably, Defendant did not write that he conducted any business in any of these luxury hotels, nor did he describe any of the individuals who visited him there as doing so for any business purpose.”
There’s much more in there, including details about Burisma and CEFC (a Chinese energy company) paying Hunter. The Biden can’t hide from this. They’re crooks.
If they had this on the Trump family they’d never leave prison.
