A judge with a liberal background and significant criminal trial experience, Tanya S. Chutkan swiftly ruled against the former president in his 2021 attempt to keep White House papers secret from the congressional inquiry, the NYT reported, adding:
“When former President Donald J. Trump appears in court before Judge Tanya S. Chutkan on charges of conspiring to subvert American democracy, it will not be the first time she has dealt with high-profile questions related to Mr. Trump’s attempts to stay in power after losing the 2020 election.
Nearly two years ago, Judge Chutkan rejected Mr. Trump’s efforts to prevent his White House records from being given to the House committee investigating his actions leading up to and during the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol by his supporters — delivering a swift and sharp rebuke about the limits of his ability as former president to invoke executive privilege.
“Presidents are not kings,” she wrote, “and plaintiff is not president.”
It is not clear when Judge Chutkan, 61, and Mr. Trump will first meet. He is set to appear before a magistrate judge for an initial court appearance on Thursday, where he is likely to be arraigned and enter a plea of not guilty — just as he did in June in a separate case involving his retention of classified documents after leaving the White House.
But she will supervise the trial, where his presence will be required in the Federal District Court in Washington. Its assignment to her raised a contrast to the assignment of the documents case to Judge Aileen M. Cannon in Florida.”

As The Gateway Pundit reported on Tuesday, U.S. District Judge Tanya S. Chutkan who was appointed by Obama will be the judge overseeing Trump “January 6th” case in DC.
Chutkan has a long history of ruling against conservatives and according to NBC “She is the only federal judge in Washington, D.C., who has sentenced Jan. 6 defendants to sentences longer than the government had requested.”
A quick look into Chutkan’s political donation records reveals she donated over $3,000 dollars to Barack Obama from 2008-2012.

Former Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs for the U.S. Department of the Treasury, Monica Crowley, pointed out on Twitter that Chutkan also worked at the same law office as Hunter Biden.

According to Open Secrets, Hunter Biden worked as an attorney for Boies Schiller & Flexner LLP from 2009-2014.
Chutkan also worked as attorney at Boies, Schiller & Flexner, and became a partner in 2007.
She left the law firm in 2014 after being appointed by Obama as the United States district judge for the US District Court for the District of Columbia.
It’s worth noting that both Hunter Biden and judge Chutkan both left the law firm in 2014.
