Ben Bergquam, a correspondent for Real America’s Voice, interviewed a friend he ran into at the recent Ohio rally for President Donald J. Trump and shared the devastating news of his daughter’s death with Bergquam.
Rick Frazier’s daughter tragically passed away after ingesting a counterfeit Xanax laced with Fentanyl, allegedly obtained from street dealers. Frazier conveyed to Bergquam his belief that the pressure of operating a small business under Joe Biden’s policies drove his daughter to substance abuse. He further attributed her death to the influx of dangerous street drugs from China due to Biden’s open borders crisis, leading to a devastating loss for his family.
That mimics what US Senator Matt Dolan (R-OH) says in his recent Op-ed titled, “Biden’s failure to secure southern border is a betrayal of the American people.”
Dolan criticized Biden’s handling of the southern border crisis, citing a surge in illegal crossings and associated issues like crime and drug trafficking. Dolan calls for decisive action, including reinstating policies like “Remain in Mexico,” completing the border wall, and leveraging trade pressure on China and Mexico to combat drug trafficking. Dolan highlights the deadly impact of fentanyl, emphasizing the need for border security to protect American lives and values.
“Another life was lost to Biden’s open borders. This time, it is my friend Rick Frazier’s daughter. This is the first interview he’s done since her passing. Please listen and share! How many more are going to have to die before Biden is removed from office? Close the border and hold these traitors accountable!”
Watch:
According to media sources, the number of Americans who have died from fentanyl overdoses has been rising steadily. In 2020, there were over 93,000 drug overdose deaths in the United States, with a significant portion attributed to fentanyl.
A CDC report from May 2023 reported:
The death toll from fentanyl overdoses in the United States has surged nearly fourfold in just five years, according to a report from health officials released on May 3, 2023. Overdose deaths involving fentanyl, a powerful synthetic opioid, increased by 279% from 2016 to 2021.
The rise in fatalities is attributed to factors including the misuse of opioid prescription painkillers and the presence of fentanyl in other drugs like heroin, methamphetamine, cocaine, and counterfeit pills. The report underscores the urgent need for a comprehensive response, including increased access to addiction treatment, harm reduction services, and naloxone, as well as efforts to reduce stigma surrounding substance use disorders.
In just five years, deaths involving fentanyl — the most frequently implicated substance — rose from 6 per 100,000 people to 22 per 100,000, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
“This continues to be a public health concern in the United States that we should keep monitoring,” said lead researcher Merianne Rose Spencer, a health statistician at CDC’s National Center for Health Statistics.
“The report, like many others over the past few years, highlights the devastation that fentanyl is wreaking on our country as lost lives continue to mount,” said Pat Aussem, associate vice president for consumer clinical content development at the Partnership to End Addiction.
“Increasingly, fentanyl is combined with xylazine, an animal tranquilizer known as ‘tranq,’ that can raise the risk of overdose and death, Aussem added.
For the study, CDC researchers used National Vital Statistics System data. Among the other findings:
- Fentanyl was the leading cause of overdose death among all ethnic and racial groups.
- The rate of drug overdose deaths involving heroin decreased by nearly 41%, although that wasn’t considered significant.
- The rate of overdose deaths from oxycodone decreased by 21%.
