Sheriffs Confront Human Smuggling, Debt Bondage, and Escalating Crime by Illegals

Washington DC Convention Center hosted the National Sheriffs Association winter conference in February, where law enforcement, who are on the frontlines of the border crisis, talked about the human toll of the open borders, which they see driving a massive migration over the border.

The chaotic situation is causing dangerous consequences like illegal immigrants in the US being indebted to the drug cartels in debt bondage- and usually forced into a life of crime to pay off their debts.

At the event, Ben Bergquam, who was recognized by the group for outstanding journalism, was on the scene to capture some frank discussions about the growing danger to the United States of America.

Here is some of what Bergquam heard at the conference while talking to the Sheriff’s group:

“Cartels are pushing dope, and the point being here is that these people are in debt bondage to the cartels. So when you see these 10s of 1000s, hundreds of 1000s, Millions of people coming into the United States, understand and know that each one of these people owes the Mexican drug cartels money for that journey, and they’re going to pay it back, and they’re going to pay it with interest, or someone’s going to die.

So what Americans need to understand is that all these people that are in the United States, they’re going to pay up, and they owe the cartels. What’s a scary thought when you think of the crimes committed to make that money to make these payments.

That these people who did it to the cartels will do precisely what the cartels asked them to do, whatever that might be. A huge problem. And you know, it’s it’s fast becoming a point where it’s beyond the ability of law enforcement to deal with,” one Sheriff told Bergquam.

Law enforcement officials from across the country gathered to discuss pressing issues facing their communities. The atmosphere was full of discussions of strategies to combat the rising tide of crime by Mexican drug cartels, particularly along the southern border, as an invasion grows outward into other states.

Bergquam, a content expert for border security, whom the sheriff’s group awarded recognition for his brave coverage of the Darien Gap and border towns, talked about his extensive investigation into non-governmental organizations (NGOs).

Specifically, Bergquam has reported the role of NGOs in exacerbating the crisis.

His words echoed the sentiments of many in the room who had witnessed firsthand the relentless influx of illegal immigrants and the criminal enterprises that facilitated their passage, concluding the United Nations.

Sheriff Williams, a seasoned lawman, recounted the harrowing encounters his deputies faced daily. Human smuggling had become alarmingly commonplace, with every interstate stop revealing another tragic chapter in the ongoing saga of exploitation and desperation.

Williams commended Bergquam for his efforts in exposing human smuggling activities. He emphasized the treacherous nature of NGOs, accusing them of aiding and abetting criminal activity under the guise of humanitarian aid. Williams highlighted the UN’s admission of providing $1.6 billion to 248 NGOs, which distribute cash and gift cards to perpetuate the surge of individuals falsely claiming asylum.

The event wasn’t just about illegal immigration; it was about confronting the insidious influence of Mexican cartels. Sheriff Spock’s words cut through the air like a clarion call, underscoring the gravity of the situation. Cartels wielded unchecked power, exploiting vulnerable migrants for profit and fueling a deadly cycle of violence and addiction.

Numerous Sheriffs told Bergquam that the event was not merely a law enforcement issue but a national security matter. The porous borders directly threatened the safety and sovereignty of the United States, and the need for decisive action was paramount.

Sheriff Daniels, representing New Mexico, spoke of the challenges faced by border communities often overlooked in the broader discourse. The relentless flow of illegal immigrants and the unchecked violence perpetrated by cartels had exacted a heavy toll on his constituents. Yet, their plight remained largely invisible to the wider world.

This video confirms the stories from the Sheriffs about the debt bondage, and Bergquam’s investgations:

Daniels told Bergquam about the situation’s complexity on the southern border, emphasizing that it goes beyond just immigration. Mexican cartels and insurgent groups play a significant role in controlling the flow of both people and drugs into the United States. These criminal organizations exploit migrants, charging them exorbitant fees and subjecting them to debt bondage. The speaker stresses the urgent need for government action to designate these groups as foreign terrorist organizations and to disrupt their operations through targeted efforts. They also discuss the challenges faced by sheriffs in border regions, including the lack of resources and the prevalence of violence and trafficking.

Amidst the grim assessments and dire warnings, there was a glimmer of hope—a shared determination to confront the crisis head-on. But it would require more than just words; it would demand bold and decisive action.

Ultimately, the sheriffs agreed the battle against crime and lawlessness would not be easily won, but they were united in their commitment to defend their homeland against all threats, foreign and domestic.

One of the major concerns for the sheriffs was the Biden administration’s policies. One Sheriff recounted a meeting with a delegation, including the mayor of Mexico, who pointed out that these issues began before the current president took office. There’s a consensus that President Biden’s actions have exacerbated the situation. There’s a call for a return to structure and a desire to see President Trump back in office.

For these sheriffs, the National Sheriffs Association conference was more than just a gathering of law enforcement officials; it was a testament to the enduring spirit of American resilience and determination in the face of adversity. And as they returned to their respective jurisdictions, they carried with them the collective resolve of a nation determined to secure its borders and safeguard its future.
